LONDON REVISITED

Did you know? There are so many songs about London that there is a “top 100” London songs on Google. This is one of my old fav’s.  I include it as we arrived at Waterloo Station and stayed nearby.  We spent most of our time south of the river but ventured over to go to a show in the West End and to do some shopping.

The Globe Theatre

One of our regrets is that we didn’t go to London in the summer to attend a performance at The Globe. There are no performances September to April due to the inconvenient fact that there is no roof. During this time it is heavily utilized for tours and school groups.

We managed to catch a show in the West End. As we are not big fans of musicals the pickings were slim. Had a laugh at a comedy called The Play That Goes Wrong in the beautiful Duchess Theatre. Described thus – “It’s as though the Mousetrap has been taken over by Monty Python”; there were many Pythonesque moments as total chaos reigned.

We split up to go to The Imperial War Museum (him) and the Tate Modern gallery (me). One of the many great things about London museums and galleries is that they are nearly all free. A great help to budget-conscious travellers like us.

I didn’t take any photos in the Tate. Just enjoyed wandering and admiring the magnificent art works. Also enjoyed the view from the rooftop.

Luvverly London. Hope to go back for a weekend before we come home. Time to go and catch the Eurostar to Paris. I’ll sign off for today with another favourite London anthem from the Clash. OK!! Werewolves too!!
